*REVIEW* Fast (Not Like the Movies #0.5) by Lauren K. McKellar

Fast (Not Like the Movies #0.5) by Lauren K. Noelle

**3 Stars**

Three, almost four, years ago, Quinn's life changed forever. She lost her beloved brother, Braden, in a car accident, of which she was injured during, forever leaving a reminder on her face. Then, a week later, Liam, Braden's best friend and the boy Quinn loved, left town without a word. When she needed him most, he walked away, and she hasn't seen or heard from him since.

Quinn's dreams to work for her favorite magazine, Lola, were forgotten as she felt she needed to stay in town close to her Mom and the memories of her brother. But, her Mom knows her well, and after almost two years of nudging, convinced Quinn to reach for her dreams once more. However, Quinn is sure she's just biding her time until she can return home, to the little comfort zone she's created for herself there. Thankfully, fate has other plans as she runs into Liam while handling an errand for her boss, Madison.

She can't get over how good Liam looks, the boy she loved has become a sexy man, and yeah, just seeing him still impacts her. Liam approaches her, and it's obvious he's happy to see her, even if it's a little awkward at first considering their history. Liam wants to catch up, and judging by the look in his eyes, do so much more at some point. But Quinn turns him down, believing it's better to just leave him in the past, yet she sees the hurt her refusal caused.

Liam and Quinn continually run into each other and the attraction between the two is hard to miss, plus, they're actually talking, confessing their feelings for one another and the desire to spend time together. As they do, their connection only strengthens, as does their craving for one another.

Will Liam and Quinn give accept their feelings and desires? Can Quinn move forward with her life, never forgetting Braden, but beginning the process of letting him go? Or will she run from hope, scared of where it may lead? Can Liam make her see that she is not at fault for what happened that night? Can he convince her that her scar doesn't define her nor detract from her beauty? Is there a HEA for them?

One-click now and follow along as two people who've both suffered a tragedy begin to live again, fighting for the future they've always wanted together. Based upon the numbering of this book in the series, I'm assuming it's a prequel and hope we see more of Liam and Quinn because we aren't actually given a HEA for them, just the illusion that there will be one. I wish more time had been spent on them as a couple.

On a purely personal note, there's a scene in the beginning, after she and Liam have seen each other again and he's started making his interest known, when Quinn is out with her fellow interns and sees Liam, who happens to have a beautiful blonde talking to him, and said blonde then kisses Liam's cheek before walking away, at which time Liam immediately makes his way to Quinn. I really wish something would've been said in regards to who she is and what that situation was. It was never referred to again. Why show something like that, allowing Quinn to see it, and then never resolve it, so to speak? No, we never saw Liam do anything other than stand there while this was going on, but it seems unnecessary to even have that play out and then we never get an explanation on who she is and why she kissed Liam on the cheek. I would think Quinn would ask him at some point.

**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
